It’s been a nice couple of games for Julian Edelman. From Weeks 5 to 11 (six games), Edelman scored only 15 combined points. In the last two, he’s scored 33 points. He followed his nine catches for 110 yards and two touchdowns in Week 12 with nine more catches and 101 yards.
The 18 combined catches make Edelman a valuable addition in PPR leagues. In standard leagues, he has WR3/flex potential. He’s become the New England Patriots‘ most reliable receiver. Even with Danny Amendola fully healthy, Tom Brady continues to target Edelman. He is tied with Shane Vereen with 21 receptions over the last three games.
The Patriots take on the Cleveland Browns in Week 14. The big question is who cornerback Joe Haden will cover. He’s known to cover his opponent’s No. 1 receivers, so is that Amendola or Edelman? Considering Edelman is listed as the No. 2 receiver on the depth chart and lines up in the slot, he could have another big game.
The Browns rank ninth against opponent wide receivers in terms of fantasy points at 17.3 per game. However, that means nothing when Brady is the one throwing the ball. The best fantasy quarterback the Browns faced all season was Aaron Rodgers back in Week 7.
Edelman is only owned in 30.2 percent of ESPN.com leagues. If you are hesitant to start Percy Harvin this week or need a replacement for Jarrett Boykin, whose value is dropping, Edelman is one of the top receivers to target in this week’s waiver wire.
