The New Orleans Saints continue to stack the box score for fantasy football owners week after week. QB Drew Brees has already eclipsed the 4,000-yard/30-TD plateau, while TE Jimmy Graham has incredibly caught 14 touchdowns through the first 13 games.
Despite his teammates success, RB Darren Sproles is having a rather forgettable fantasy campaign. He has had just three double-digit fantasy performances on the year and has been the ultimate hit-or-miss back this season. His crippling inconsistencies have caused many owners to loose faith in the scat back.
Since his two-touchdown outburst in Week 10, Sproles has been an utter mess. He has averaged a meager 21.6 rushing yards over the last three games and his 24.6 receiving yards has been a far cry from what fantasy fans have been used to.
This week, though, Sproles may be worth taking a shot on. New Orleans faces the St. Louis Rams in the upcoming week and it is looks like another favorable matchup for QB Drew Brees and company. St. Louis is currently surrendering 19.9 fantasy points to opposing running backs and they should have a very difficult time containing the high-powered offense of the Saints.
Sproles has consistently been a factor in the passing game and the elusive back will pose as a matchup nightmare for the Rams. St. Louis won’t be able to cover Sproles with an outside linebacker, which will likely result in a heavy dose of targets out of the backfield for the flex back. Sproles should see a handful of targets this week on screens, and if he can finally get a lane, he should be able to have a couple big gainers.
Sproles may be having a rocky fantasy season, but this is a week to get him active. He has a great matchup and should be able to easily rack up 80 all-purpose yards.
