Ryan Tannehill is the Future of Fantasy Football Quarterbacks

Tannehill

About every 10 years or so, we see a changing of the guard at the quarterback position. For so many years, it has been Tom Brady or Peyton Manning that fantasy football managers have leaned on to score them huge points week after week. After we saw another week that Peyton Manning just did not look like himself and Tom Brady was forced to make comeback after comeback, are we finally seeing a changing of the guard in fantasy football?

If we are seeing that before our very eyes, the one quarterback that is leading that charge is Ryan Tannehill of the Miami Dolphins. Tannehill is having one heck of an end to the fantasy football season. Since the Dolphins’ game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Tannehill has thrown for 1,650 yards and 12 touchdowns. That is an average of 275 yards and two touchdowns. These are great numbers to look for when drafting a quarterback next season.

Look, there is no denying that Manning and Brady are two of the greatest quarterbacks to ever play in the NFL and to ever assist fantasy managers on their ways to a season victory. However, there has to come a point where these guys just cannot be the players they used to be. There also has to be a time when the future rises to the top to take over these positions.

This season we have seen many quarterbacks begin to try and take the torch from some of these veterans. Tannehill is not the only one. We have also seen quarterbacks like Nick Foles for the Philadelphia Eagles become one of the most consistent quarterbacks in the NFL. We have also seen Cam Newton become the superstar that we all saw him become in his rookie season.

Sometimes change can be bad. Other times, change can be a good thing. You never like to see the greats get put out to pasture or walk-off into the sunset. However, when that happens, it allows others to take their chance and become the greats of future fantasy football leagues.
