2013 Fantasy Basketball Waiver Wire: PF Jon Leuer

Kim Klement-USA TODAY Sports

Looking at the season averages of Memphis Grizzlies PF Jon Leuer, fantasy basketball fans wouldn’t be too impressed. He has averaged just 9.4 points with 4.9 rebounds on the year and has looked like nothing more than a bench player. Needless to say, he hasn’t been picked up in many fantasy leagues.

However, lately the Wisconsin standout has been much more productive for fantasy fans. Leuer has averaged 15.9 points with a respectable 8.1 rebounds in the month of December and he has developed into a decent mid-level forward in all fantasy formats. Leuer has a 54.1% field goal percentage this month as well, which has helped him stay towards the top of the scoring sheet each game.

More importantly, Leuer has averaged 29.1 minutes per game this month. He averaged a meager 9.8 minutes per game in November, but he has received much more playing time since C Marc Gasol went down with a sprained MCL. The extra court time has allowed Leuer to fill out the box score more regularly and become a nightly fantasy option.

Leuer is owned in just 12.9% of ESPN leagues at the moment and can be a great player to claim off the waiver wire at this point in the season. He will be able to add around 10 points a game and his rebound total should remain consistent with steady playing time.
