2013 Fantasy Basketball Waiver Wire: PG D.J. Augustin

The Chicago Bulls continue to see player after player go down due to injury and it has left the team in a state of disarray. However, the increasing number of injuries has allowed some less-known stars to become regular fantasy basketball contributors. One of these underrated fantasy stars has been PG D.J. Augustin.

Augustin recently joined the team via the Toronto Raptors and in a short time Augustin has supplanted Marquis Teague as the team’s backup point guard. Augustin has even started a handful of games lately for PG Kirk Hinrich, who has missed some time recently with a back injury. Hinrich will return to the starting lineup any day now, but for now Augustin remains the team’s starting point guard.

Augustin added 18 points on Saturday to go along with an impressive 10 assists, four three-pointers, and five boards. The point guard is now averaging an impressive 13.8 points, eight rebounds, and 2.8 three-pointers per contest over his last four games alone. These are PG2 numbers and Augustin’s play certainly deserves attention from fantasy owners.

Fantasy owners are always looking for the next, hot point guard and Augustin fits that bill. He won’t averaged 20 points and eight dimes every night, but he should be able to fill the box score enough to warrant a roster spot. Augustin is only owned in 15% of ESPN formats, so check the waiver wire if you need another one-gaurd.
