2014 Fantasy Football IDP Keeper Profile: DE Cameron Jordan

Derick E. Hingle-USA TODAY Sports

In fantasy football IDP formats, some of the best players to lock down in keeper formats are defensive linemen. They tend to be pretty consistent and it makes them much safer keepers than defensive backs or linebackers.

One of the best defensive linemen to keep stashed away for the 2014 season is DE Cameron Jordan of the New Orleans Saints.

The lineman is just starting to enter his prime and the 24-year-old has thrived since the team moved back to a 4-3 defense. Jordan has racked up 12.5 sacks on the year, including 6.5 sacks over his last six games alone. Jordan has also posted three multi-sack performances this season and he has been all over opposing quarterbacks. He truly put together an All-Star fantasy  season.

Unfortunately, Jordan went from 4.2 tackles per game in 2012, all the way down to 3.1 tackles per game this season. He struggled to get off double-teams on the line of scrimmage and the move to the outside likely caused him to have a learning curve in the beginning of the year. Jordan rebounded to average four hits over his last five games, though, and the defensive end finally started to get more comfortable.

Jordan will be a top-10 defensive lineman next season in every IDP format. He should be able to rack up another 10-plus sacks with over 50 tackles, so fantasy fans would be smart to lock him up now.
