Fantasy Basketball: SG DeMar DeRozan Posting Career Numbers

Soobum Im-USA TODAY Sports

One of the most surprising fantasy basketball performances of the 2013-14 season has come from SG DeMar DeRozan of the Toronto Raptors. The veteran has always been able to average double-digit points per game, but his numbers this fantasy season has been absolutely astonishing.

DeRozan is currently posting an impressive 21.6 points per game this year, which is shockingly tied for 13th in the league with superstar power forward Dirk Nowitzki of the Dallas Mavericks. DeRozan has managed to shoot a respectable 42.2 % from the field to go along with 80.2 % from the charity stripe. He has only averaged 15.1 points per game throughout his four-year NBA career, so his sudden offensive explosion has come out of nowhere this year.

Everyone is talking about DeRozan’s scoring totals, but most have overlooked his ability to fill out the box score. Double-D is adding a very respectable 4.4 rebounds, 3.6 assists, and 1.2 steals per game. He has quickly become a decent SG1 in every fantasy format and has outperformed some of the bigger names at the position this season.

DeRozan has more than proved that his hot start has not been a fluke. He has been racking up buckets game after game and doesn’t appear to be slowing down anytime soon. He should be good for close to 20 points each game for the remainder of the year and the two-guard will be an All-Star option to rely on down the stretch.
