Fantasy Basketball: Mike Conley Jr. Posting PG1 Numbers

Troy Taormina-USA TODAY Sports

The fantasy basketball season is quickly approaching the midway point. Many superstars are beginning to find themselves on the injury report, while others are really starting to heat up for fantasy owners.

Probably one of the most surprising performances from the point guard position has come from Mike Conley Jr. of the Memphis Grizzlies. Conley wasn’t ranked inside the top-10 point guards in any formats. However, the one-guard has quickly become one of the hottest options in fantasy. He is currently dropping an impressive 18.1 points per game this season, while also adding 6.5 assists, 2.5 rebounds, and 1.6 steals.

MCJ has been even hotter for fantasy fans in recent weeks, though. He has averaged a staggering 23.2 points and 7.6 rebounds per game over his last five contests alone. Conley has averaged an healthy 37.8 minutes over this five-game stretch and he has disappointed with the extra playing time. He has outperformed almost every point guard over that stretch and the former Ohio State star has quietly matured into a decent PG1.

Conley is more than making up for the lack of starters around him in Memphis and he has suddenly started producing like a premier fantasy one-guard. He will only be more involved in the team’s offense as the year drags on, so fantasy fans shouldn’t expect him to slow down anytime soon.
