Fantasy Basketball Waiver Wire: Don’t Bother With Kenyon Martin

Brian Spurlock-USA TODAY Sports

It wasn’t long ago that PF Kenyon Martin was one of the most exciting players to own in fantasy basketball. He made a living of dunking the ball, grabbing tough rebounds, and always giving his team 110% when he was on the court.

Martin, now with the New York Knicks, has become nothing more than a role player in recent seasons.  He has only started 15 games on the year, and considering that he is scoring a meager 4.2 points per game, Martin hasn’t exactly been a steady contributor on the offensive end of the court.

The journeyman has garnished some attention in fantasy formats lately due to his defensive numbers. Martin has grabbed 6.6 rebounds per game this month, while playing a respectable 24.3 minutes per contest. These aren’t All-Star numbers, but have been worth some spot starts in recent weeks.

However, Martin hasn’t been able to contribute consistently and is too much of a gamble. It is only a matter of time until the 36-year-old ends up on IR and the super-veteran simply doesn’t possess any long-term value. There are better options on the waiver wire that don’t have the knees of a 60-year-old and it would be better to put your faith in someone with a higher ceiling.

K-Mart will be out of business before you know it, so you may want to find somewhere else to find discount rebounds.
