Week 14 Fantasy Basketball Notes: Injury Report
The 14th week of the fantasy basketball season was filled with injuries and we once again saw several players head to the med room. So before moving on to the next week, make sure none of your players have recently found themselves on the injury report.
PF Pau Gasol, Los Angeles Lakers – Gasol will miss at least a week with a strained groin and it will leave a temporary hole in thousands of fantasy frontcourts. Gasol was putting up huge numbers throughout the month of January (20.8 points/11.9 rebounds/3.9 assists), but the fact that he will miss a handful of games will ruin his value for this week. He will be back by Week 15, though, so fantasy fans shouldn’t get too worked up.
C Nikola Pekovic, Minnesota Timberwolves – Pekovic has been dealing with ankle bursitis the past week, and as a result, he will miss a couple games in the upcoming scoring period. He has been seen in a walking boot, and while he is still traveling with the team, there is no immediate timetable for his return. Continue to monitor Pekovic’s health on a daily basis.
PG Ty Lawson, Denver Nuggets – Lawson has missed the last two games due to a sore shoulder. The point guard is confident that he will return in time for Monday’s versus the Los Angeles Clippers, but he will still be a risky play in weekly formats. It may be better to sit Lawson in weekly formats in Week 15.
SG Manu Ginobili, San Antonio Spurs – Ginobili has once again been ultra productive this season off the bench. He has posted 12.1 points, 4.5 dimes, 3.3 rebounds, and 1.4 triples per contest. Unfortunately, the veteran strained his left hamstring and will be out approximately 3-4 weeks.
C Anderson Varejao, Cleveland Cavaliers – Varejao has now missed three straight games with a hyperextended and bruised left knee. He has been strong in the paint in recent weeks, as he has seen his average climb over 10 boards (10.3) per game, but his latest injury will only set him back more.
