The Atlanta Hawks has been rather hot during the cold winter months. The team is surprisingly 7-4 in their last 11 games, while averaging a healthy 106.3 points per game. As a result, it seems that everyone on the team’s roster has been filling the box score for fantasy basketball owners.
A key figure during the team’s hot streak has been SF DeMarre Carroll. Atlanta has been ravished by injuries this year, but Carroll has taken full advantage of the opening in the starting lineup. He has consistently been able to score double-digit points to go along with a handful of boards and triples each game.
Over his last four games alone, Carroll has averaged 14.8 points, 5.8 rebounds, 3 assists, 2.5 steals, and 2 three-pointers per contest. He has also shot 51.2% from the field over this stretch and 50% from behind the arc. The veteran has become a valuable part of Atlanta’s rotation and he will continue to put up SF2 numbers with a study dose of playing time.
The forward missed some time with a minor hamstring injury this past week, but it doesn’t appear to be very serious. He has already returned to play in four straight games and fantasy fans can breathe easier now that the injury is completely behind him.
Carroll is worth owning while he is on such a role right now. He has been a very hot commodity on the waiver wire this past week, but he is still owned injury 22.3% of ESPN formats. If he is sitting on the wire right now, pick him up and give him some spot starts.
