Fantasy Baseball 2014: Top 10 Catchers Heading Into Week 3

The Cleveland Indians are looking to make it back to the playoffs and Yan Gomes will be a major piece to the puzzle if that does happen. If only he could get Carlos Santana out of his slump as well.

Week 2 stats: .316 AVG, 0 HR, 0 RBI, 4 Runs, .435 OBP

The Cubs are, unsurprisingly, tied for last place in the NL Central, but they still have had a lot to be excited about. Emilio Bonifacio has been killing it and Wellington Castillo has also been a pleasant surprise.

Week 2 stats: .316 AVG, 1 HR, 5 RBI, 1 Run, .381 OBP

Joe Mauer is a model of consistency for the Minnesota Twins. Can anyone remember a time when the veteran catcher/first baseman didn't produce at a high level. There is a reason he is one of the top catchers in baseball -- even though he switches in at first base as well.

Week 2 stats: .333 AVG, 1 HR, 4 RBI, 2 Runs, 1 SB, .391 OBP

The Arizona Diamondbacks may have the worst record in the majors right now, 4-12, but they still have solid pieces in place for future contention. I would be shocked if they were still near the bottom of MLB in a month's time.

Matt Wieters was an early selection at catcher in many fantasy drafts as he has the ability to hit for contact as well as power. The veteran catcher's production is nothing to look past.

The legend of Evan Gattis is growing in Atlanta. Many people have become fans of the rising star and his power/production are second to none -- most of the time. According to ESPN, 27 percent of fantasy leagues still gave him as a free agent -- pick him up now.

Russell Martin is seemingly on his way back up even though he is getting up there in age. Don't be afraid to pick up this veteran catcher if you're looking for some solid backup help.

A.J. Pierzynski has been playing much better than many expected him to play this season for the Red Sox. While he seems to be on a new team every year, he may have found his home for the remainder of his career.

Yadier Molina is quietly the best hitting catcher in the bigs these days. It seems like Yadier is always at the top of average categories and most other offensive categories for catchers. If you have him, you're in luck.

Devin Mesoraco is now on everyone's radar after a stellar week two performance. Mesoraco is a name that will become more known in the coming weeks if he keeps up his play.
