The U.S. Open is only a week away and many golfers will be trying to perfect their swing before the major. To help you pick a solid fantasy foursome this week, here are five fantasy golf predictions for the 2014 FedEx St. Jude Classic.
5. Rickie Fowler Will Struggle This Week
5. Rickie Fowler Will Struggle This Week
In his last four tournaments, Fowler has missed the cut twice, finished 38th at the Wells Fargo Championship and 77th at the PLAYERS Championship. He has fallen apart since back-to-back top-six finishes earlier in the year and the youngster is simply off his game right now. Fowler will continue his downward spiral this week at TPC Southwind.
4. John Merrick Will Have Another Top-15 Finish
4. John Merrick Will Have Another Top-15 Finish
Merrick is 5-for-5 in cuts made at TPC Southwind, including a second place finish in 2012 and an 11th place finish in 2011. He will be one of the most underrated fantasy options this week in Tennessee and will have another top-15 finish.
3. Phil Mickelson Will Surprise People This Week
3. Phil Mickelson Will Surprise People This Week
Mickelson has struggled all year long and the superstar has yet to crack the top-10. Luckily, he has started to heat up this spring and has racked up four top-19 finishes in his last eight tournaments. Mickelson also tied for second at TPC Southwind last year, so fantasy fans shouldn't be too surprised to see Lefty have a big week.
2. Scott Stallings Will Finish Inside Top-5
2. Scott Stallings Will Finish Inside Top-5
Stallings went to college at Tennessee Tech and currently resides in Knoxville, so this will be like a home course for the veteran. He posted a shocking T2 here last year and proved that he knows this course like the back of his hand. Look for the veteran to have another top-five showing this week in Tennessee.
1. Dustin Johnson Will Win It All
1. Dustin Johnson Will Win It All
Johnson won this tournament back in 2012 and the veteran followed it up with an impressive T10 last year. He knows this course extremely well, and considering he is ranked near the top of the tour in nearly every category, he should have a couple strong rounds this week. He has two wins this year and will add his third this week in Memphis.
