For any fantasy baseball team, starting the right players is unsurprisingly the key to success. This is especially true in the immensely popular daily leagues, where a single player can mean the difference between a big payday and crushing disappointment. Based on matchups and talent, the following five players could all be in for an outstanding day on June 18 and deserve your utmost consideration.

This left-handed bat has really been cooking in June. He's hitting a solid .321 thus far, plus has chipped in five HRs and 14 RBIs. I like his chances at more success today when the D-backs host Matt Garza and the Milwaukee Brewers. Montero is hitting .308 against right-handed pitching on the season, plus Garza has struggled mightily on the road with an ugly 6.21 ERA.

4. 2B Chase Utley, Philadelphia Phillies

I recommended this guy yesterday and he ended up getting the day off. Let's try this again. Utley will square off against Atlanta Braves starter Aaron Harang today, and that should bode well for him. Not only is the Phillies' second baseman hitting .309 versus right-handed pitching on the season, he has owned Harang in his career to the tune of a .455 average in 22 at-bats.

3. DH Victor Martinez, Detroit Tigers

Martinez has been in beast mode for most of the season, but has really kicked it into high gear of late. He's hitting .362 over his last 12 games, including four HRs and 11 RBIs over that span. A date with Kansas City Royals starter Jeremy Guthrie should continue that trend. Not only is V-mart a career .333 hitter against Guthrie, but the KC starter has allowed a whopping 12 HRs to left-handed bats already this year.

2. OF Josh Hamilton, Los Angeles Angels

This five-time All-star is seeing the ball quite well at the moment, as he's batting .327 over his last 11 games. A date with disappointing Cleveland Indians starter Justin Masterson should be music to his ears too. Masterson is allowing left-handed bats to hit .301 against him this season, plus Hamilton has absolutely dominated him with a .588 average and two HRs in 17 career at-bats.

If you're looking for a slam-dunk pitcher today, here's your guy. Hernandez has been simply incredible the past few weeks as he's 5-1 in his last seven starts, and owns an anemic 1.29 ERA over his last six outings. Oh yeah, he's also struck out 59 batters over his last 55.2 innings. He gets the dream matchup today against the San Diego Padres, who rank last in the league in both runs per game (2.96) and team batting average (.214).
