2014 Fantasy Baseball: Jesse Hahn Should Be Owned in All Leagues

The San Diego Padres get a bad rap for being a poor offensive team. However, the pitching staff is doing great things. Tyson Ross has a 2.93 ERA in 18 starts and rookie Odrisamer Despaigne is 2-0 in his first two career starts. The top Padres pitcher to own is Jesse Hahn.

Hahn was called back up in the beginning of June and struggled in his first start. Since then he has gone on a four-game winning streak. In those four games, he has allowed just two earned runs. On the season, Hahn is 4-1 with a 1.95 ERA, 1.05 WHIP and 36 strikeouts in 27.2 innings.

Hahn will put his four-game win streak on the line against the San Francisco Giants on Sunday. The Giants haven’t been able to put up any offense over the last week. The team has a .182 average and just 11 RBI in the last week. With Hahn pitching in a pitcher-friendly park at home, he has a great chance to earn win No. 5.

If you are in need of a spot-start or an SP5 in any league, Hahn should be the guy to target. He is currently owned in 57.8 percent of ESPN.com leagues. There has been a huge increase of 46.1 percent over the last week.

The Padres may not compete for the NL West title this season, but the pitching staff is still firing on all cylinders. Hahn can pitch at least seven innings while striking out eight batters in a game. He is worth adding in all leagues, Roto and standard, so pick up the up-and-coming pitcher now.
