The New York Giants offense struggled greatly for most of the 2013 season. The team finished 28th in both yards and points per game and Eli Manning was the league leader in interceptions. Things look to be heading up as the Giants selected wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. as a spark in the offense. Beckham is competing for a starting job and will be a deep sleeper in all fantasy leagues.
Beckham was one of the best wide receivers in the 2014 NFL Draft. The Giants selected him 12th overall as a replacement for Hakeem Nicks. Beckham finished with 143 receptions for 2,34 yards and 12 touchdown in three seasons. Nicks had 56 catches for 896 yards and no scores in 2013.
He is competing for the No. 2 spot, playing opposite of Victor Cruz. Beckham will battle Rueben Randle and Jerrel Jernigan for the starting job. Jernigan had 29 catches for 329 yards and two touchdowns. Randle had 41 yards for 611 yards and six touchdowns. Beckham can finish with similar or better stats that either receiver
There have been reports of the Giants using Beckham in the return game. DeSean Jackson immediately came to mind. While it may be small numbers, an extra touchdown or two can only help his stats.
Beckham will enter the 2014 fantasy season as a late-round selection. He would fit as a WR4 in most leagues. In redraft leagues, he will be a top-10 pick. My 2014 projections for Beckham are 48 receptions for 780 yards and five touchdowns. The Giants are a pass-first team and if Beckham wins the starting job, he could be a nice sleeper.
