For any fantasy baseball team, starting the right players is unsurprisingly the key to success. This is especially true in the immensely-popular daily leagues, where a single player can mean the difference between a big payday and crushing disappointment. Based on matchups and talent, the following five players could all be in store for an outstanding day on July 21 and deserve your utmost consideration.

This future Hall of Famer has been swinging a hot stick of late with five multi-hit performances over his last 11 games. He has an outstanding matchup this evening to try and keep the train rolling. The Yankees will host Miles Mikolas and the Texas Rangers on this fine Monday. Mikolas has been beyond awful in his three starts this year, as he owns a horrifying 10.05 ERA and has allowed right-handers to bat an amazing .444.

4. 1B - Chris Davis: Baltimore Orioles

Fantasy baseball's biggest bust of 2014 is starting to show signs of life at the dish. Davis has managed hits in three of his last four games and even boasts a couple of HRs over that span. He gets starter Matt Shoemaker of the Los Angeles Angels tonight, and that should lead to more success. Left-handers are batting a lofty .294 against Shoemaker on the season, and he's already allowed nine HRs in 63.2 innings pitched.

3. 3B - Ryan Zimmerman: Washington Nationals

This third baseman has always been pretty streaky, and his bat is absolutely on fire at the moment. Zimmerman is batting a gaudy .418 over his last 15 games, and has 16 RBIs over that span to boot. A trip to Coors Field should inflate those numbers even further. Franklin Morales will get the nod against the Nationals today, and on top of allowing right-handers to bat .295 against him, he's allowed a whopping 18 HRs in just 87.1 innings pitched.

2. OF - Jayson Werth: Washington Nationals

Werth has been giving opposing pitchers nightmares in July, as he's hitting an lofty .385 for month plus he boasts an impressive six HRs and 20 RBIs. He'll face the aforementioned southpaw Franklin Morales today at Coors Field. If Morales' ugly numbers on the season aren't enough to get you on board with starting this slugger, perhaps Werth's excellent .370 average vs. lefties will do the trick.

This lefty has been flat-out brilliant in 2014 with an 8-1 record to go along with a sensational 2.02 ERA and 0.84 WHIP. He'll continue his pursuit of the AL Cy Young Award today when the Sox host the struggling Kansas City Royals. To go along with an ugly 3-9 record over their past 12 games, the Royals have managed to put up a paltry 2.83 runs per contest over that span.
