Jose Abreu White Sox

For any fantasy baseball team, starting the right players is unsurprisingly the key to success. This is especially true in the immensely popular daily leagues, where a single player can mean the difference between a big payday and crushing disappointment. Based on matchups and talent, the following five players could all be in for an outstanding day on July 24 and deserve your utmost consideration.

*All stats current through 7:00 p.m. Wednesday

This light-hitting backstop has posted a career best .312 average to this point and has actually been one of the 10 best fantasy catchers in baseball this season. Suzuki is batting an impressive .362 thus far in July and will look to keep things rolling on Thursday against the Chicago White Sox. Hector Noesi will get the start for the Sox, and to go along with an ugly 5.21 ERA, right-handers are batting a lofty .337 against him on the season.

4. 3B - Chase Headley: New York Yankees

In 13 games prior to his trade to the Yankees, Headley had really been heating up at the plate as he posted a strong .339 average. Just imagine what he might do at hitter-friendly Yankee Stadium. That's where he'll be on Thursday when New York hosts Colby Lewis and the Texas Rangers. Lewis' 6.37 ERA on the season is an embarrassment, and left-handers are batting a remarkable .400 against him thus far in 2014.

3. P - Corey Kluber: Cleveland Indians

This right-hander has established himself as the Indians' ace, and few guys are pitching better right now. Kluber owns a sparkling 2.53 ERA since the beginning of May and ranks 7th in baseball with an outstanding 9.75 Ks per nine innings. The Indians are set to take on the Kansas City Royals on Thursday. KC has struggled mightily of late, with a 5-10 record over their last 15 games and have scored just 3.00 runs per contest over that span.

2. OF - Jacoby Ellsbury: New York Yankees

Don't touch this speedster right now or you may just burn yourself. Ellsbury has been on fire of late, as he's posted an excellent .351 average over his last 13 games with four HRs and 11 RBIs. As previously mentioned, the Yankees will face Texas starter Colby Lewis on Thursday, and it was not a misprint when you read that left-handers are batting a ridiculous .400 against him this season. Big things could be in store here.

This beast has been tormenting opposing pitchers of late, as he's batting a gaudy .409 over his last 11 games. The Sox will take on Phil Hughes and the Minnesota Twins on Thursday evening, and Abreu isn't likely to be slowed down in this one. Hughes has been battered for five earned runs or more in five of his last six outings, and right-handers are batting a healthy .338 against him on the season.
