2014 Fantasy Baseball: OF Austin Jackson Heating Up
Of all the sluggers on the roster of the Detroit Tigers, the hottest name since the All-Star break has surprisingly been OF Austin Jackson. The veteran has really turned it on this week and has put together a jaw-dropping fantasy baseball stat line in the process.
In the eight games since the All-Star break, Jackson has been hitting everything. He has gone 14-34 (.411 AVG) over that stretch and has raised his average from .253 up to .270. The veteran has even managed to rack up seven multi-hit games in a row.
The outfielder has hit for power as well since the turn. He has smacked five doubles, one triple, and a homer over his hot-steak. He has never been a power threat, as he has just 46 homers in 663 career games, but he is seeing the ball very well at the moment.
Jackson also scored eight runs in his eight-game hot-streak. He luckily sits atop Detroit’s powerful lineup and will always be a threat to score runs with the heavy-hitters of Ian Kinsler, Miguel Cabrera, and Victor Martinez following Jackson in the batting order.
A-Jack will be a respectable third outfielder to ride down the stretch this year. He won’t crack many long balls or finish with an average over .300, but he will do a little bit of everything else for fantasy owners week after week.
