5 Pitchers Who Will Help You Win Your Daily Leagues On Aug. 5

Corey Kluber proved to be worth the money last night while Zack Greinke got roughed up by the Angels and wasn't worth the money. It was a smaller slate of games so options were limited. However, tonight is a full slate with plenty of pitchers to consider. However, there are five starters that you should be targeting more than the rest and it's time to take a look at who they are.

(Prices are based off FanDuel salary-cap leagues.)

5. Gio Gonzalez - Washington Nationals ($9,000)

Over the past month, Gonzalez has experienced a wealth of terrible luck. Not only has he gone 0-3 during that span, but his ERA has been awful with a 5.23. However, looking closer at the numbers, Gonzalez has a FIP of 2.94 and an excellent K/9 rate of 9.58. It also helps that he faces the Mets, who have the worst wOBA in the league over the past week. This should be a luckier night for Gonzalez and the start to a better month than the last.

4. Lance Lynn - St. Louis Cardinals ($8,200)

Lynn is a much better pitcher at home than he is on the road and, thankfully, this game is at Busch Stadium tonight. Over the past month, Lynn has been pitching well with a 2.16 ERA and a 9.36 K/9 rate. His one issue has been walks as his BB/9 rate is an awful 4.32. If he can limit the amount of base runners tonight against a Red Sox team that's been ranked 16th in wOBA over the past seven days, then he should be good for a quality start and win.

The new ace of the Tigers makes his debut tonight in the Bronx against a Yankees team that’s hitting better as of late. In fact, the Bronx Bombers have been ranked fifth in team wOBA over the past seven days. However, over the last 30 days, Price has gone 4-1 with a 2.04 ERA and a 8.17 K/9 rate. Therefore, one can expect a pumped-up Price to cool off the hot Yankee hitters tonight. It also helps that the Tiger bats have been red hot as well.

2. Clayton Kershaw - Los Angeles Dodgers ($12,600)

Over the past month, the Dodgers ace has gone 3-0 with a 1.32 ERA, 0.71 WHIP, 9.26 K/9 rate and an impressive swinging strike percentage of 14.5. He’s facing an Angels team that’s been heating up over the last two games and we saw evidence of that last night against Zack Greinke. However, as the reigning National League Cy Young award winner, Kershaw is a different breed of pitcher and can extinguish the heat of any hot-hitting team.

1. Felix Hernandez - Seattle Mariners ($11,100)

King Felix and his 1.55 ERA, 0.86 WHIP and 10.24 K/9 rate over the last 30 days has been nothing short of spectacular. He has also produced a swinging strike percentage of 11.7 over that span and the only disappointing thing about his recent run is his 1-1 record. He gets to face a Braves team tonight that's ranked 21st in wOBA over the past week and striking out at a rate of 23 percent. This all lines up well for tonight's No. 1 pitcher.
