For any fantasy baseball team, starting the right players is unsurprisingly the key to success. This is especially true in the immensely popular daily leagues, where a single player can mean the difference between a big payday and crushing disappointment. Based on matchups and talent, the following players could all be in for an outstanding day on Aug. 6 and deserve your utmost consideration.

(All stats current through 7:00 p.m. Tuesday.)

Lowrie has swung a pretty hot bat the past month, as he's now batting a solid .337 since July 5. He's managed to raise his season average 28 points over that span, and has a good shot at improving it even more on Wednesday. Jeremy Hellickson and the Tampa Bay Rays will take on the A's, and to go along with a lofty 1.61 WHIP, Hellickson has allowed opponents to bat .304 in his three starts this year.

4. OF - Will Venable: San Diego Padres

It's been a miserable season for one of fantasy baseball's biggest busts, as Venable has failed to continue where he left off in 2013. He has perked up with a .500 average over his last five games, however, plus has chipped in two HRs and seven RBIs over that span. Perhaps he can keep the momentum going vs. starter Kevin Correia on Wednesday. Correia owns an ugly 4.96 ERA, and is allowing opponents to bat .300 on the season.

Machado continues to be productive when he can keep himself in the lineup, and has posted a strong .351 average over his last eight games. The majority of his success has come vs. right-handed pitching this year, and he has a great matchup to exploit on Wednesday. Drew Hutchinson will get the start against the O's, and to go along with a horrid 7.71 home ERA, he's allowed 21 runs over his last 23.1 innings of work.

This slugger has been haunting pitcher's nightmares all season, and he's now batting a remarkable .419 over his last 22 games. The rookie is making a strong push for MVP consideration, and is likely to help his cause even further on Wednesday. He'll face the Texas Rangers and starter Nick Tepesh in this one. Tepesh has posted a frightening 7.15 ERA since the beginning of July, and has especially been beaten up by right-handed bats.

1. P - Sonny Gray: Oakland Athletics

With a dynamic 1.07 ERA over his last six outings, this sophomore has been nearly unhittable of late. Though he's walked a fair amount of batters over that span, he's also rewarded fantasy players with 38 Ks over those 42 innings of work. Gray and the A's will host the Tampa Bay Rays on Wednesday. Tampa ranks just 26th in the league in runs per game on the road, and the team has lost four of its last five games overall.
