Bubba may have won the Masters earlier in the year, but he only has one top-20 finish in his last six tournaments. Watson is currently tied for 35th after the first round of the PGA Championship, and he looks to be going through the motions right now.

There have already been many unfamiliar names on the leaderboard this year at the PGA Championship. Edoardo Molinari (T4), Mikko Ilonen (T9), Joost Luiten (T11), and Bernd Wiesberger (T11) are all on the leaderboard at the moment, and they aren’t exactly household names. Look for more unknown golfers to start to show up throughout the rest of the weekend.

3. Jim Furyk Continues To Play Well

Furyk has six straight top-20 finishes, including a solo fourth place finish at the British Open and a solo second place finish at the Canadian Open. He is currently sitting tied for fourth at the PGA Championship with five strokes under par and the veteran is having another strong showing at a major.

Tiger missed the cut at the Quicken loans, posted a T69 at the British Open, and withdrew from the Bridgestone Invitational. Woods is simply not ready to compete at the pro level and his 74 in the opening round showed that. It looks like it will be a short weekend for Tiger in Louisville.

There haven’t been many complaints about the condition of the course in Valhalla through one day of action. The fairways have been maintained perfectly and the greens are beyond reproach. This is going to be a beautiful weekend for golf.
