Most fantasy baseball owners have completely lost faith in the pitching staff of the Chicago Cubs since the blockbuster trade last month. The team lost both starters Jeff Samardzija and Jason Hammel at the trade deadline to the Oakland Athletics, and as a result, they have been left with a rather inexperienced rotation to use for the remainder of the season.

Since the trade, though, Kyle Hendricks has completely taken over as the team’s ace. The 25-year-old currently has a sizzling 1.73 ERA to go along with a 1.01 WHIP. He also has a 4-1 record, including an impressive three-game wining streak. The right-hander has been extremely efficient during his current hot-streak.

Hendricks hasn’t been a strikeout machine since joining the Cubbies, as he has just 26 K’s through 41.2 innings of work. However, the youngster continues to record outs and limit the damage when he has base runners on. He has allowed two earned runs of fewer in the last five starts alone.

Hendricks is shockingly owned in 32.6% of ESPN formats right now. He is a must add in all formats before the fantasy playoffs and the control specialist is pitching like an All-Star right now. Make sure to check out your waiver wire, because Hendricks could be a hidden gem to grab off the waiver wire before the playoffs start next week.
