2014 Fantasy Football: Buy Or Sell RB Andre Williams

RB Andre Williams exploded in the Hall of Fame game, impressed the next week, but hit a speed bump on Saturday. That should not stop you from finding a way to get him on your fantasy roster.

In the first professional game of his career, Williams rushed for 48 yards on seven attempts and even scored a goal-line touchdown. The next week, he kept the numbers impressive with 35 yards on seven attempts. The only way that Williams will become a focal point of this New York Giants offense is if he can find a way to leapfrog Rashad Jennings in total touches.

Peyton Hillis is trying to recover from a foot and ankle injury, which has helped Williams showcase his skills. He could be used right away as the primary goal-line back as soon as Week 1, depending on Hillis’ status. This will give him immediate value in deeper leagues.

With every running back in the Giants’ backfield, it is about who gets the opportunity, but more importantly, who shines the brightest. I could see Williams taking over at the position at some point during the season. As it stands, he is being drafted in the 15th round of standard leagues.

If you can find a way to stash Williams on your bench with one of your last two picks, you will be happy with his production down the stretch. An even better strategy would be to handcuff him to Jennings and ride the hot hand. Williams is also one rookie RB who you won’t have to draft in the early rounds.
