As the fantasy baseball playoffs approach, many owners will be looking for reliability out of their second base spot. Among all the options in fantasy right now, one of the hottest second basemen in the game is San Diego Padres 2B Jedd Gyorko.

Gyorko was plagued with a painful Plantar Fasciitis injury throughout the first half of the season. He missed close to two months with the foot injury, and considering he was hitting .162 before the injury, it is no surprise that he was dropped in almost every format.

In his 20 games this summer, though, Gyroko has been putting on a show. He is 24-77 since coming back, which is good for an outstanding .311 batting average. He has been red-hot at the plate and has finally started to live up to some of that offseason hype.

Gyorko has been hitting for power as well. He has smacked four home runs over his hot-streak with five doubles and a staggering 20 RBIs.  He has quietly become a legitimate power source from second base, which is hard to come by these days.

Gyorko will be a reliable 2B to rely on down the stretch this fantasy season. He may not be a household name, or even owned in over 50% of ESPN formats (35.5%), but he has proven that he is ready to produce in the fantasy playoffs this year.
