For any fantasy baseball team, starting the right players is unsurprisingly the key to success. This is especially true in the immensely popular daily leagues, where a single player can mean the difference between a big payday and crushing disappointment. Based on matchups and talent, the following players could all be in for an outstanding day on Aug. 26 and deserve your utmost consideration.

This left-hander has really enjoyed some home cooking this season as he's posted an excellent .330 average at Safeco Field. Seager has also been far more productive against right-handed pitching this year and will face one of the league's weaker ones this evening. Nick Martinez of the Texas Rangers will be that righty, and to go along with an ugly 5.13 ERA, left-handers are batting .302 against him in 2014.

4. OF - Alex Gordon: Kansas City Royals

The dog days of summer are treating this veteran quite well as he's batting .323 over his last 18 games with six HRs and 13 runs scored. Gordon and the Royals have a dream matchup today vs. the terrible Ricky Nolasco, and that could lead to big things. Nolasco has surprisingly kept his job despite an awful 5.96 ERA on the season, and left-handed bats have tormented him to the tune of a .340 batting average.

Gonzalez has had some ups and downs this year, but it's been nothing but up of late. The veteran first baseman is batting an even .400 over his past 17 contests and has a whopping 17 RBIs over that span. The Dodgers will face starter Trevor Cahill this evening, and not only is he allowing lefties to bat .338 this season, but Gonzalez has posted a dreamy .458 average against him in 24 career at-bats.

2. SS - Jose Reyes: Toronto Blue Jays

The baseball is looking more like a softball to this switch-hitter right now as he's batting an impressive .361 over his last 18 games. Reyes has preferred hitting against right-handers this year and has what looks to be a good matchup to take advantage of today at home. Rubby De La Rosa will get the starting nod against the Blue Jays, and he has struggled on the road with a 4.33 ERA and lofty .292 batting average against in six starts.

It's been a magical season for the Reds' ace as he's tied for the MLB lead with 15 wins and ranks second in the NL in both ERA and WHIP. He's been nearly unhittable at home with a microscopic .174 batting average against, and he will face a weak offense there tonight. The Chicago Cubs will be that offense, and on top of ranking just 28th in the league in runs per game, the team has scored four runs or fewer in 16 of their last 17 contests.
