2014 Fantasy Football: Top 10 QB/WR Combos

Too bad Jimmy Graham isn't a wide receiver, because Drew Brees and Graham are easily the best aerial combination in the NFL. In terms of true QB/WR duos, what combo is the most lethal in the NFL right now in regards to fantasy numbers? Here's my list for the 2014 season.

10. Ben Roethlisberger and Antonio Brown

If two Pittsburgh Steelers players have made this list, then you know that the NFL has become a passing league. Last season, Ben Roethlisberger and Antonio Brown set career highs in completions (375) and receptions (110) respectively. This means that Brown caught nearly a third of Big Ben's successful passes. Look for this duo to continue to link up for big numbers again in 2014 as Brown is the clear WR of choice for his pass-happy QB.

When Reggie Wayne went down last season with an ACL injury WR T.Y. Hilton established himself as QB Andrew Luck's favorite target, and there's no reason why that trend shouldn't continue this year. Hilton only scored 5 TDs last year, but he should double that output as Luck looks to have his best year ever in his third season as a pro. Luck will throw for 4000-plus yards and 30 TDs this year. Hilton will be the chief beneficiary of his success.

8. Jay Cutler and Brandon Marshall

The love-fest between QB Jay Cutler and WR Brandon Marshall began in Denver when they were teammates, and it carried over to Chicago where these two have really hit their stride. WR Alshon Jeffery may appear to pose a threat to Marshall's targets, but the numbers indicate otherwise. Marshall has led the Bears in receptions and TDs over the last two years, and with Jeffery's emergence, teams can't afford to double Cutler's go-to-guy anymore.

7. Matt Ryan and Julio Jones

For years Roddy White was Matt Ryan's No. 1 receiver, but a healthy Julio Jones will steal the show in 2014. Jones' speed, size and athleticism make him virtually unguardable, and we saw Ryan's numbers drop off drastically when Jones got hurt in 2013. White was also hampered by his fitness last year, and at 32, he's not getting any stronger. Look for Matty Ice to stay cool under pressure with Jones as his main bailout WR in 2014.

6. Philip Rivers and Keenan Allen

The Philip Rivers-Keenan Allen connection was lethal last season, and it's only going to be more deadly this season. In his debut season last year, Allen established himself as a good, young receiver with a lot of promise as he reeled in 71 balls and eight TDs. This year, he will challenge for the title of being called elite, and Rivers will continue to play like his old self with 2014 possibly being his best year ever.

5. Tony Romo and Dez Bryant

Just throw it up and WR Dez Bryant will make a play. QB Tony Romo knows this all too well and that's why this tandem has been unstoppable over the last few years. The Cowboys make no secret about their penchant for throwing the long-ball and Romo is the ultimate gunslinger. Bryant has become the lone star WR in Dallas with a diminished Miles Austin now in Cleveland, and I don't think WR Terrance Williams will challenge his double-digit TD output.

4. Aaron Rodgers and Randall Cobb

With no clear threat at the TE position, Aaron Rodgers will have to utilize all three of his WRs more than ever and Randall Cobb will be the guy who gets the majority of the touches. Cobb can be used in the running game (end-arounds) or special teams, but his best use is in the passing game where he's showed versatility as a route runner and a deep ball threat. Jordy Nelson is great, but Cobb and Rodgers will be the new dynamic duo in the league.

3. Andy Dalton and A.J. Green

The "Red Rifle" has never thrown a deep ball that he didn't like and most of those balls have connected with WR A.J. Green. Andy Dalton may be an interception machine, but he's also a touchdown machine and Green decreases Dalton's margin of error. Otherwise, he might really only be as good as Carson Palmer — the guy he replaced. Green's incredible set of hands and Dalton's strong arm make them a killer combination, so expect the expected in 2014.

2. Matthew Stafford and Calvin Johnson

By his lofty standards, Megatron took a huge step backwards last season with only 84 catches to his name. QB Matthew Stafford should be blamed because Calvin Johnson can't throw himself the ball, but I'm sure that the 2014 season will be a rebound year for the Detroit Lions. The Stafford/Johnson connection is probably the most feared duo in the league, because Johnson is just that good. With health and focus they could be No. 1 in the league.

With plenty of options to choose from, QB Peyton Manning seems to favor WR Demaryius Thomas in the passing game after Thomas led the Denver Broncos in every important statistical category for a WR last season. With WR Eric Decker off to New York and WR Wes Welker unfortunately still battling his concussion problems, Thomas will have an ever bigger role to play in 2014. With Manning, nothing is impossible, and Thomas is just getting started.
