Running backs in fantasy leagues are weird. You never know who will have big years and who will disappoint, but there are sleepers every year for a multitude of reasons. We are mere days away from the opening kickoff of the NFL season, but there is still time for you to jump on these five sleepers to help win you your championship.

The Atlanta Falcons' running back situation is a mess. Steven Jackson will probably be hurt at some point this season, and Devonta Freeman is just a younger, better version of Jacquizz Rodgers. Not only does Freeman provide explosiveness the other two don't, he should be a solid pickup in PPR leagues.

Frank Gore can't keep going forever, so I would expect the San Francisco 49ers to ease up on his carries a little bit. That's why they drafted Carlos Hyde, a carbon-copy of Frank Gore, and the best running back coming out of the 2014 NFL Draft. He is a talented, downhill runner who should get plenty of opportunities this season.

Is Rashad Jennings really the answer in New York? He's had plenty of opportunities in the past, and he has proven to be a suitable replacement, but can he be a stud at that position? I'm not sure, but should he falter, Andre Williams will be there to pick up the slack.

Shane Vereen is the best option in the New England Patriots' backfield because of his catching ability, but who really knows with the Patriots and Bill Belichick. Stevan Ridley will get his opportunity, but he's one fumble away from sitting out four games. The Patriots like to diversify their offense, and they should find a way to work James White into their system.

He's the man in Jacksonville now. Jordan Todman is the only other competent running back behind him, and Toby Gerhart should be an every-down back, and a surprisingly good PPR option. Don't sleep on this guy.
