Minnesota Vikings WR Cordarrelle Patterson was a popular sleeper in most fantasy football formats this summer and many people bought into the hype. Well, not many people will be sleeping on the speedy wideout after his Week 1 matchup with the St. Louis Rams.

Now Patterson didn’t have a huge impact in the passing game. The wideout finished the afternoon with three receptions (on five targets) for a meager 26 yards. Ironically, he was outshines by the team’s former number one WR Greg Jennings, who caught six balls for 58 yards and the team’s only receiving touchdown.

Shockingly, though, Patterson had a huge impact in the rushing game. The dynamic wideout ran the ball three times for an astonosing103 yards, including an electric 67-yard touchdown in the third quarter. Patterson even beat out superstar RB Adrian Peterson, who finished with 75 yards on 21 carries.

Minnesota showed how dedicated they are to finding ways to get their speedster the football in Week 1, much like they did when WR Percy Harvin was still in town. Patterson will continue to see plenty of touches in this offense week after week, whether it be in the running game, passing game, or in special teams.

Patterson will be an amazing WR3 down the stretch. He may go through the occasional slump now and then, but the sophomore will finish as a top-30 receiver when it is al said and done.
