Fantasy Football Injury Update: WR Alshon Jeffery May Be Game-Time Decision

Many of you Alshon Jeffery fantasy owners are depending on him to put up WR1-type numbers. This may not be a reality come Sunday night.

Jeffery (hamstring) and fellow top fantasy wide receiver Brandon Marshall (ankle) have not practiced the last two days. Along with them, Josh Morgan (groin) was held out of practice as well for the Chicago Bears. They will be going into a game against the San Francisco 49ers very thin at wide receiver.

If Jeffery is good to go, then he must be in any fantasy lineup. Even more so if any of the other Bears receivers can’t play. The tricky part about Jeffery and this week in particular is not if he has a favorable matchup, but the time of the game. Since the game is on Sunday night, you may not have a backup plan if he ends up being a game-time decision and doesn’t play.

Look for Marc Trestman and company to announce Jeffery and Marshall’s game status, at the latest, Saturday afternoon.

One thing is for sure: the Bears do not want to start the season 0-2. They want their two big pass catchers on the outside to be available.

Last week against the Buffalo Bills, Jeffery tallied 71 yards on five catches. That’s 71 yards while missing most of the second half. In Week 2′s game vs. the 49ers, it is likely the Bears will be behind on the scoreboard. This will force Trestman to call Jay Cutler‘s number and throw the ball even more than last week.
