Fantasy Football Week 2 Buy or Sell: RB Marshawn Lynch

RB Marshawn Lynch deserves the nickname “Beast Mode.” He’s one of, if not the strongest running back in the league, with highlight reels all over YouTube showcasing his strength. He’s also quick, reads his blocks well and is not injury prone.

Lynch and the Seattle Seahawks found a lot of success by using read-option plays against the Green Bay Packers in the season opener, running rampant all over the Packer defense. They utilize their multiple playmakers, such as Percy Harvin and Russell Wilson, to march down the field with misdirection and deception. Once they’re in the red zone, Lynch is the favorite to carry out these plays, leading to a lot of goal-line carries and points for the former California Golden Bear. If they can continue to utilize the read-option and keep teams guessing, all of these players will benefit and compliment with one another.

This week, Lynch and company will play the San Diego Chargers in San Diego Sunday afternoon; although the “12th man” isn’t there to support him, Lynch will do well regardless. Andre Ellington averaged 4.1 yards per carry against the Chargers last Monday night, and only got 13 carries. With a better overall team and other playmakers to worry about, expect Lynch to punish the Chargers’ defense and receive the ball a lot more than Ellington. Lynch had 20 of the 37 rushing plays the Seahawks ran (with the others being from Wilson, Harvin and Robert Turbin) and will remain the workhorse for them.

Marshawn Lynch is a premier back in the world of fantasy football, and should be started this week on every fantasy team.

Verdict: Buy.
