Fantasy Football Week 2 Start or Sit: Arizona Cardinals Defense

One week is down for the NFL, and that means one week is over for fantasy football owners. In a constantly changing thing like fantasy football, adjustments on whether to start or sit players are key to winning from week to week. The same holds true for defenses, as even a great defense can be a poor play sometimes, depending on if they are on the road, or facing a high scoring offense.

Last week, the Arizona Cardinals were able to defeat the San Diego Chargers in a thrilling Monday Night game, but fantasy wise, their defense disappointed a bit. The Cardinals’ defense only allowed 17 points, which is decent against the Chargers’ offense, but they couldn’t record a sack, and turnover wise were only able to intercept Phillip Rivers once, leading to not many fantasy points.

This week, the Cardinals will be heading on the road to face Eli Manning and the New York Giants as road favorites. In the Giants’ loss to the Detroit Lions, their offense looked dreadful, as they seem to be weeks away from having a grasp on Ben McAdoo’s new offense. Manning has had a lot of turnovers in the past few seasons, and that should result in some fantasy points for the Cardinals’ defense this week.

Last week in the 35-14 loss to the Lions, Manning threw two interceptions, but more notably was the Giants’ offensive line’s inability to protect him. Manning was constantly under pressure from the Lions’ defense, and was sacked twice. The Cardinals’ defense should be able to replicate what the Lions did to the Giants’ offense even though John Abraham will not be playing.

With the fact that Manning is turnover prone, the offensive line is poor, and the team doesn’t seem too comfortable in the new offense; it makes that Cardinals’ defense a must start in Week 2.
