2014 Fantasy Football Waiver Wire: Buffalo Bills D/ST

Buffalo Bills

Timothy T. Ludwig-USA TODAY Sports

The Buffalo Bills are 2-0 and the sole owner of first place in the AFC East. Most the the success should be credited to the defense. They pulled out the surprise victory over the Chicago Bears in Week 1 and completely dominated the Miami Dolphins on Sunday. With the San Diego Chargers coming up in Week 3, the Bills should be picked up from the waiver wire.

The Bills held division rival Dolphins to just 10 points. The defense recorded one interception, one fumble recovery and four sacks. Mario Williams may finally be playing up to his potential. He leads the team with 2.0 sacks. Running back C.J. Spiler added to the fantasy scoring by returning a kickoff 102 yards for a touchdown. The defense gave up just 80 rushing yards on 21 carries (3.8 yards per carry).

The Chargers pulled out the victory in their Week 2 game, but suffered an injury. Ryan Mathews left the game with a knee injury, which ended up being a sprained MCL. With Mathews likely to miss this game, the Chargers will rely on Danny Woodhead and Donald Brown until further notice.

After the Chargers, the Bills will face some tough offenses in the Houston TexansDetroit Lions and New England Patriots. The Bills have the talent to keep the scoring to a minimum while forcing a lot of turnovers. The defense is owned in just 39.8 percent of ESPN.com leagues.

If you are a fantasy owner with the Seattle Seahawks defense (10 and -1 fantasy points in the first two weeks), I would look to pick up the Bills defense. By getting pressure on the quarterback and the likelihood of a kick return, the Bills are a sleeper defense.
