Alshon Jeffery Fantasy Football Week 3 Projection

Chicago Bears wide out Alshon Jeffery had a down week against the San Francisco 49ers while he was hampered by a hamstring injury. Jeffery was only able to gut out three receptions for 47 yards on Sunday night for the Bears. Fantasy owners shouldn’t fret though; the mere fact that Jeffery was able to take the field last week is a good sign for the upcoming week.

The Bears play the New York Jets on Monday Night Football this week, giving both Jeffery and fellow receiver Brandon Marshall extra time to heal up. With Marshall on the field, Jeffery will continue his role as the Bears’ deep threat. Jeffery definitely looked as though he was slowed by his injury last week, though he was still able to get open down field a few times against the beat up 49ers defensive backs, although QB Jay Cutler wasn’t able to connect with him. If Cutler can find his deep ball groove this week, Jeffery should definitely be able to haul in a few grabs.

With Marshall hauling in three TD receptions against the 49ers, the Jets beleaguered defensive backs will have their hands full trying to contain him, leaving Jeffery open for extra scoring chances. The Jets’ defense has also not allowed a single rushing touchdown yet this season, so when the Bears get on the goal line, Cutler will be looking to his big receivers out on the edge. I would expect Jeffery to sit out on some practice this week to heal up, though I would not hesitate to start him this week against the Jets.
