In the Atlanta Falcons‘ high-powered offense, Roddy White has emerged as one of the key pieces that keeps the engine running. The 32-year-old veteran receiver missed Week 3 with a hamstring injury, but all signs are pointing to a return to the starting lineup against the Minnesota Vikingsin Week 4.
If White is a full-go on Sunday, then fantasy football owners should be ready to insert him into their starting lineup. The 2014 Vikings’ defense is ranked No. 11 against the pass, but don’t let that fool you. After holding the St. Louis Rams to six points in Week 1, they have allowed 30 points to the New England Patriots and another 20 to the New Orleans Saints. If White is healthy and plays the way that we are used to, he should be in line for a solid game.
As a fantasy football owner, I would start White as a mid-tier No. 2 wide receiver for his matchup against the Vikings. Alongside WR Julio Jones, White should see a lot of single coverage and the opportunity to play man vs. man against the Vikings’ cornerbacks. Remember, this Falcons’ offense is coming off a 56-point performance in Week 3 and I’m sure it has no intention of slowing down. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers‘ defense crumbled against the Falcons in Week 3 and all of that damage was done without White on the field.
Look for White to pick up where he left off in Week 2 and expect a typical five-to-seven reception game with 50-70 yards and a possible touchdown. I would recommend owners check up on the Falcons’ receiver and his status before Sunday’s game. If White does get the green light, make sure he’s in your starting lineup.
