The defense of the Pittsburgh Steelers is pretty beat up at the moment. LB Jarvis Jones has been placed on the Injured Reserve with a wrist injury following surgery and he won’t be eligible to return until Week 12. Rookie LB Ryan Shazier has also suffered a sprained MCL and has been unable to stay on the field as well. It has left the team in a gapping hole in their defense,

As a result of the injuries at the second level, veteran LB Lawrence Timmons has once again emerged as a worthy fantasy football IDP.

Timmons has racked up 34 tackles over the past four games. He has really stepped up with all the injuries to the team’s linebacking core and the veteran will continue to be a decent option for tackles from here on out. Th former All-Pro was once a guaranteed 130-plus tackles, but age has started to catch up with the veteran. Luckily for fantasy fans, the team needs someone to tackle would be ball carries, so Timmons stands the biggest threat to lead the team from tackles from here on out.

Timmons can have value as a LB2 in 10-man leagues and can serve as a very valuable bye week fill in. He is still available in more than half of IDP formats, so add the veteran backer off the waiver wire this week if you need some defensive help.
