Most fantasy football fans don’t pay too much attention to their starting defense on a weekly basis. They tend to all put up similar numbers, but once and a while, a unit’s matchup is simply too good to ignore in a given week.

This week that honor goes to the San Diego Chargers.

San Diego faces off against the New York Jets (1-3) and they are perhaps one of the offensively inept squad’s in the entire NFL. They are scoring only a meager 19.8 points per game and are currently tied for dead last with a -5 turnover differential.

QB Geno Smith turned in another dreadful performance last weekend. He threw two interceptions and has now registered multiple turnovers 11 times over the past two seasons, which is the most in the league. He is a turnover machine and makes any fantasy defense that faces him look like a group of All-Pros.

Even more promising, San Diego hasn’t allowed more than 15 points in back-to-back games. Granted their competition wasn’t the best, as they faced the Jacksonville Jaguars and Buffalo Bills, but it was an impressive run nonetheless. They should be able to feast on Geno this weekend and cause the disheveled signal caller to turn the ball over at least twice.

The Chargers are currently a very hot pickup off the waiver wire, so act fast if you need a defense this week.
