Teddy Bridgewater Fantasy Football Week 5 Projection

Teddy Bridgewater had a very nice outing last week against the Atlanta Falcons, scoring 22 points. That was a noticeable enough performance for fantasy owners to start picking him off waivers. He’s now owned in about 20 percent of leagues, but should he just be a backup this week or could he be your starter?

He’s going against NFC North rivals the Green Bay Packers this week, who are allowing the 10th fewest points to quarterbacks this season. The most they’ve allowed came against Russell Wilson with 17 points in Week 1, but that came off a performance in which he threw two touchdowns — something Bridgewater has yet to accomplish.

All of his points have come off passing and rushing yards. The Packers allow the ninth-fewest passing yards, so don’t expect him to start sounding off against them. The Minnesota Vikings are looking to keep attacking on the ground, and it’s been working. Don’t expect them to turn into a pass-oriented offense on a moment’s notice.

But of course, this is assuming Bridgewater plays this week. His performances in the last two games were indicative of a good rookie quarterback, but with his ankle injury, he’s listed as questionable this week. He’s likely a game-time decision for the Thursday night game.

If he is to play, you can probably count on Bridgewater for 237 passing yards and 23 rushing yards. Once again have will have no touchdowns for a mediocre 11 points. I wouldn’t advise starting him this week even if your other quarterback is on a bye. Look at other players you can pick up; he’s not worth the risk.
