After recording six or more catches for 64 or more receiving yards in each game this season, New England Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman had a poor game as the Patriots were crushed by the Kansas City Chiefs.

Edelman finished the game with four receptions on eight targets for just 23 yards. So far this season, Edelman has established himself as Tom Brady’s favorite target, but seeing as the Patriots couldn’t get anything going offensively against the Chiefs, this offense may be in trouble this week against the Cincinnati Bengals.

The Bengals currently rank 16th in the NFL in both pass and run defense, but their defense has played much better than those rankings indicate. They key to Edelman’s success in the offense is obviously Brady, but against a tough Bengals front seven, the Patriots’ offense will struggle like they did against the Chiefs.

Brady’s current 79.1 passer rating ranks 29th in the league, and he’s completing a just 59 percent of his passes. Despite the fact that the Patriots will be playing at home, this does not look like a good week for them, as the Bengals will look to remain undefeated in Foxborough.

Even though Edelman has emerged this season as Brady’s favorite target, Brady will see a lot of pressure this week, which means few targets and even fewer catches for him. Currently being started in only 40 percent of ESPN Fantasy leagues, Edelman is in for a rough week.

Fantasy Football Week 5 Projection: Five catches on seven targets, 68 yards and zero targets.
