Andrew Luck loves to throw the ball. He did so 49 times on Sunday in a win against the Baltimore Ravens. However, he wasn’t very fond of throwing to tight end Colby Fleener this past week. That’s ironic, considering the two played well together at Stanford. Fleener was only targeted two times, snatching one of those passes for a solid gain of 30 yards.

If any plays are going to be drawn up for a tight end on the Indianapolis Colts, it’s going to be Dwayne Allen; especially in the red zone. Allen has four touchdown catches in five games. This isn’t to say that Luck ignores Fleener in the end zone. He only has one less target than Allen. He just hasn’t had the same Luck — no pun intended.

On paper, Fleener appears to be the most athletic tight end. His 40-yard dash times and vertical jump are leaps and bounds better than Allen’s. It just hasn’t translated to productive fantasy football play. It probably won’t improve too much against a Houston Texans defense that is capable of stopping a tight end.

Houston is only giving up an average of 7.1 fantasy points (non PPR leagues) and 56 yards total to opposing tight ends. This puts their defense in the top 10 against that position. That’s enough reason to not play Dwayne Allen, Indianapolis’ No. 1, let alone their No. 2.

Unless you’re in a really deep league and have an injury or bye week at the tight end position, I see no value to playing Colby Fleener in Week 6. He is a desperation play at best.

Colby Fleener Week 6 Projection: 2 catches for 18 yards. Zero touchdowns.
