Zac Stacy Fantasy Football Week 6 Projection

After a brilliant 2013 fantasy football season, St. Louis Rams RB Zac Stacy hasn’t exactly lived up to the hype in 2014. He has only scored one touchdown and has yet to rack up over 75 rushing yards in a single contest. He has also fumbled the ball twice. These are not the numbers you would expect from a back that was drafted in the first round this summer.

Stacy has also started to lose carries to back Benjamin Cunningham. The youngster racked up 71 all-purpose yards last weekend and scored a touchdown on a tough 14-yards run. Stacy suddenly has competition in St. Louis, and unless he wakes up soon, the popular first round pick will start to loose more touches each week to Cunningham.

Even worse, Stacy has been dealing with a calf injury recently. He hasn’t practiced at all this week and he is currently listed as questionable for the team’s Monday night contest. So even if he does play, he won’t be guaranteed to see his normal workload.

This week the Rams play a tough San Francisco 49ers defense. They are currently third in the league against the run (73.8 yards/game). The team is allowing the 30th most fantasy points (10.4 points/game) to opposing running backs and are stifling backs game after game. Needless to say, this isn’t exactly a good matchup for Stacy to come back and shine.

All indications are that Stacy will play this Monday, but his matchup against the 49ers completely ruins his fantasy value. Stacy will struggle to move the ball and will likely finish the game with under 70 all-purpose yards.

Week 6 Prediction: 15 ATT., 46 YDS, 0 TDs, 2 REC. 12 YDS, O TDs
