Fantasy Football Week 6 Sleeper: Odell Beckham Jr.

Odell Beckham

When the New York Giants drafted wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. out of LSU with the 12th overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, high expectations followed him; but an injury during training camp prevented him from practicing with the team, let alone playing in a regular season game.

That all changed this past Sunday. Not only was Beckham Jr. active for the game, he made quite an impact in his debut against the Atlanta Falcons.  Despite only playing 38 snaps, Beckham Jr. finished the game with four receptions for 44 yards and a touchdown. Beckham Jr. played much better than his low receiving totals indicate as he drew a deep pass interference penalty, showcasing his playmaking ability.

The Giants will want to be careful and ease Beckham Jr. into playing time as his hamstring injury kept him out of regular season action prior to the game against the Falcons. With running back Rashad Jennings doubtful with a knee injury, the Giants may have to rely on the pass more than they have this season.

The Giants’ receivers have a favorable matchup this week as they face the Philadelphia Eagles. The Eagles’ secondary has been nothing short of horrible this season and they may be in trouble this week as they face Victor Cruz, Rueben Randle, Beckham Jr. and tight end Larry Donnell.

Currently owned in just 6.4 percent of ESPN fantasy leagues, Beckham Jr. could be a good sleeper pick to start in deeper leagues given his debut performance and a favorable matchup this week.
