Fantasy Football Week 6: Start Cordarrelle Patterson

A lot of owners have cooled on WR Cordarrelle Patterson in recent weeks, and with good reason. After the second-year Minnesota Vikings player broke out in Week 1 of the fantasy football season, there has not been much production in recent weeks. Nonetheless, he is someone worth starting in your flex spot for Week 6.

Patterson’s huge Week 1 came on the strength of 102 yards rushing and a touchdown. He has not really been utilized as a receiver so far in 2014, as he has yet to find the end zone through the air and has not had more than 61 yards receiving in a game this season.

All of that will change with a healthy Teddy Bridgewater inserted back into the starting lineup. Bridgewater has played less than seven full quarters in 2014, but has managed to accumulate 467 yards passing and a 92.7 passer rating. He missed last week’s game against the Green Bay Packers due to a banged up ankle.

Patterson finally has a true pocket passer running the Vikings’ offense; one with a great track record in college. If it weren’t for a poor pro day and combine, Bridgewater likely would have been selected in the first round. He has started only one game at QB for Minnesota and he already seems to have a good rapport with players running routes for him.

The Vikings have a tough matchup versus a top-ranked Detroit Lions defense in Week 6. They will have the home crowd on their side in this NFC North tilt. The Bridgewater era is now, and Teddy is well aware that Patterson may be the Vikings’ best weapon on offense given the recent demise of Adrian Peterson.
