Fantasy Football Week 6 Sleeper: Allen Robinson

Oftentimes in fantasy football, players on teams in small markets or unpopular franchises go overlooked nationally simply because most owners are unfamiliar with them and do not spend adequate time studying their stats. Perhaps no team is a better example of this than the Jacksonville Jaguars, and now with Blake Bortles starting at quarterback, WR Allen Robinson becomes a sleeper that most people are overlooking.

Robinson’s been solid over the first five weeks of the season. Leaving Week 1 out, considering he wasn’t really factored into the game plan, here’s a look at what he’s produced.

  • Week 2 — four receptions, 75 yards
  • Week 3 — seven receptions, 79 yards
  • Week 4 — five receptions, 38 yards
  • Week 5 — five receptions, 51 yards

While these are far from overwhelming statistics, especially since Robinson’s yet to score a TD this season, he will continue to improve and eventually begin to hit paydirt on occasion as the Jaguars’ offense and their rookie quarterback continue to get acclimated with the system in live game action.

Robinson’s been targeted 37 times this season (as many as Demaryius Thomas of the Denver Broncos) essentially in four games, which means in most matchups he can be counted on to see nine to 11 passes thrown his way. This makes him an excellent candidate in particular for one-point PPR leagues, as well as those who award one point per 10 receiving yards, both in re-draft and one-week formats like Draft Kings; where he’s a great low percentage owned value option.

Robinson’s currently available in 98.6% of ESPN leagues and 88% on Yahoo!. While he is by no means a must have player at this very second, he’s worth a spot on your roster as an insurance policy in PPR settings. The Jaguars play the Tennessee Titans this week in a battle for last place in the AFC South and I’d expect Jacksonville’s offense to be firing on all cylinders against the lowly Titans’ defense.

Expecting Robinson to see another 10 targets this week is a fair assumption considering the Jaguars running game has been completely non-existent. He’s good for six to eight receptions and 80 yards in this contest, and if he indeed scores his first TD of the season, he’s going to be one of the most productive Week 6 deep sleeper options.
