Whether it's because of injuries, byes or under-performing players, working the waiver wires is an essential aspect of fantasy football, especially in deeper leagues. With NFL Sunday kicking off tomorrow, it's time for those last-minute lineup tinkers. If you're in need of a fill-in player or someone to stash for later, here are the top 10 last-minute deep sleepers for Week 6.

On one side, Logan Thomas saw his first NFL action last week, so his sample size is very small. On the other, the Cardinals have a home matchup against the Redskins, who are allowing the most fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks. While he only completed one pass on eight attempts last week, it went for an 81-yard touchdown.

9. Darrin Reaves, RB, CAR

With DeAngelo Williams out and Jonathan Stewart’s uncertain health, Darrin Reaves becomes an interesting option. Last week, Reaves led all Panthers running back in carries, but was stopped at the goal line. Even then, facing a Bengals team that is lacking their star wide receiver, this game might turn into a ground battle, and Reaves figures to lead Carolina backs in carries again.

8. Jared Cook, TE, STL

Through four games, Jared Cook hasn’t been anything special, but at the same time, he’s been quietly consistent. Averaging 55 yards a game, with a floor of 44 yards and a ceiling of 75 yards, Cook is a safe play for owners in need of a bye-week fill-in, or simply a consistent player who won’t produce a goose egg.

7. Charlie Whitehurst, QB, TEN

After Jake Locker was forced to leave the game against the Browns with an injury, Whitehurst filled in nicely, completing 13 of 21 passes for 194 yards and two touchdowns. Week 6 brings a matchup against the soft Jaguars' secondary, which is allowing the third most fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks.

6. John Brown, WR, ARI

It’s hard to endorse any receiving option on this Arizona offense, but rookie John Brown has found a way to be effective at home, scoring three touchdowns in two games. While Brown is a prototypical boom-or-bust option, if you’re in need of a sleeper, you could do a lot worse in terms of potential upside.

5. Malcolm Floyd, WR, SD

With the exception of the Chargers’ Week 2 matchup against the Seahawks, Floyd has scored at least seven fantasy points in each game. The Raiders have contained opposing receivers well so far, but haven’t faced a challenging offense yet. Philip Rivers is too much for Oakland to handle, and Floyd will get his.

4. Brian Hoyer, QB, CLE

While many people want to see Johnny Manziel take over in Cleveland, Hoyer has done everything in his power to keep that from happening. Hoyer has thrown for more than 200 yards in each game and has come within 10 yards of reaching 300 twice. The desperate quarterback has thrown six touchdowns to only one interception, making him a legitimate, safe start.

3. Andrew Hawkins, WR, CLE

Through three weeks, Hawkins was a stud, averaging seven catches for 81 yards. But after a bye and one poor outing, he’s fallen off the map. Expect Hawkins to return to form against the secondary he exposed for eight catches and 87 yards in Week 1.

2. Austin Davis, QB, STL

Austin Davis has been on fire in the Rams’ last two games, totaling 702 yards and six touchdowns. While it’s unrealistic to think he’ll maintain this pace -- especially heading into a matchup against the third best fantasy defense against quarterbacks in the 49ers -- it’s also unrealistic to expect Davis to fall off completely. Owners should continue riding this hot streak.

When is it considered “too early” to jump on a player’s bandwagon? Honestly, I don’t care, because I’m all aboard this one. After being drafted 12th overall, Beckham Jr. was sidelined until Week 5 when he made a promising touchdown grab off a jump ball. While it’s not wise to make too much of one play, that’s exactly what I’m doing. He demonstrated athleticism, hands, body control and focus and becomes an instant red-zone threat in the NFL.
