Fantasy Football Week 7 Waiver Wire Pickup: RB James Starks

The Green Bay Packers are determined to get running back Eddie Lacy going on offense. Unfortunately, they have been forced to get away from him in recent weeks. Instead, the Packers hand the ball over to quarterback Aaron Rodgers to win games. The fact is Lacy has struggled mightily this season, mostly due to one of the worst run-blocking offensive lines in the league. But, when Lacy struggles, the Packers turn to running back James Starks in the second half.

Starks has not recorded more than four fantasy points in a week, although he has hit that mark three times this season. For that reason, Fantasy Football owners may be wondering why he would be worth a waiver wire pickup.

One of the main reasons is simply playing a hunch. Rolling the dice plays a big role in the success of the top teams in each league. On top of that, making moves on the waiver wire week-to-week is another way to emerge victorious. Starks is seeing more action as the weeks go on. Plus, the more Lacy continues to struggle means the more Green Bay will give Starks the ball. At some point, he is going to breakthrough with a big game.

I am not saying starting Starks will give owners the edge they need to squeeze out a win. However, if there was ever a week to give him a shot, Week 7 is certainly the time to do it. The Carolina Panthers rank 27th in the league in opponent rushing yards per game (140.2). The informative statistic most likely means Lacy is headed for a good game, but it also could mean success for Starks.
