Fantasy Football Week 7 Waiver Wire Pickup: RB Justin Forsett

Justin Forsett

Thomas J. Russo – USA Today

Just a few months ago, Justin Forsett was let go by the Jacksonville Jaguars. Now, he has established himself as one of the most productive running backs in the NFL and undoubtedly the best option for the Baltimore Ravens‘ backfield. If Forsett is still sitting on your fantasy football league’s waiver wire, I suggest picking him up before someone else gets the chance.

When the veteran running back signed with the Ravens, it was assumed that he would be a third-stringer behind Ray Rice and Bernard Pierce. With Rice being cut from the team due to his fist meeting with his wife’s face and Pierce suffering a thigh injury, Forsett has been able to step up and prove to fantasy owners that he possesses great value.

During the Ravens’ Week 6 matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Forsett had 14 carries and totaled 111 yards, averaging 5.9 yards per carry. Fantasy points-wise, it was not Forsett’s best week, but it was the first time since 2009 that he logged a 100-yard game.

Forsett is currently leading the NFL’s running backs in average yards per carry and is fifth for rushing yards with a total of 408, right behind DeMarco Murray, LeVeon Bell, Arian Foster and LeSean McCoy. The Ravens will take on the Atlanta Falcons during Week 7. The Falcons are currently 2-4 and give up the most fantasy points to running backs. Not only is Forsett an ideal starter for this matchup, but he is a reliable running back to have in your lineup in the future.
