Julian Edelman Fantasy Football Week 7 Projection

Julian Edelman

Stew Milne-USA TODAY Sports

New England Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman’s stock is definitely on the rise heading into Week 7.  The Patriots are coming off two strong wins and will look to bring their win streak to three at home against the New York Jets this Thursday; while Edelman will try and prove that his performance Sunday against the Buffalo Bills was not an anomaly.

After posting a total of nine receptions for 58 yards and zero touchdowns for Week 4 and Week 5, Edelman bounced back against the Bills, catching nine passes on 12 targets for 91 yards. Edelman would have broken 100 yards and scored a touchdown had it not been for an egregious defensive pass interference play in which Bills safety Duke Williams shoved him out of bounds.

Despite only having one touchdown on the season, Edelman has been seeing plenty of targets from quarterback Tom Brady, averaging over nine per game. This makes him an incredibly valuable player in PPR leagues as he is currently on pace to finish the season with 107 receptions.

The Jets enter the game ranked 15th in the NFL in passing defense, but they will struggle this Thursday against the Patriots. Brady is playing great and riding a two-game winning streak and the Jets’ secondary are weakened as cornerback Dee Milliner is unfortunately out for the season after suffering a torn Achilles on Sunday.

Edelman is a great flex or WR2 option and deserves to start after his performance on Sunday and given the Jets defensive struggles.

Fantasy Football Week 7 Projection: 10 receptions for 85 yards and a touchdown.
