Through the first seven weeks of the 2014 NFL season, the Seattle Seahawks are 3-3, which already ties last season’s loss total. Over the past two weeks the Seahawks appear to have lost their way, they have lost two straight games and traded star receiver/return man Percy Harvin after allegations arose stating that his behavior was detrimental to the team.

One of the team’s few impressive fantasy football performances recently has come from fourth-year wide receiver Doug Baldwin. With Harvin gone, Baldwin has been allowed to return to his more natural position in the slot after playing on the outside to accommodate having Harvin in the lineup.

In the Seahawks first game without Harvin, Baldwin exploded against the St. Louis Rams, catching seven passes for 123 yards and a touchdown in a losing effort. Baldwin finished the game with eleven targets, four more than the second closest receiver, suggesting that he will be quarterback Russell Wilson’s new go to receiver moving forward.

This Sunday, the Seahawks will travel to Charlotte, North Carolina to take on a Carolina Panthers team that has had its own share of bad luck this season. The Panthers boast a very pedestrian defense, and despite the fact that many had them as one of the better defenses in the league going into the season, they are currently ranked 22nd in the NFL against the pass and 26th against the run.

Baldwin, and the Seahawks, should be able to bounce back from last Sunday’s loss and defeat the Panthers at home.

Fantasy Football Week 8 Projection: 9 catches, 110 yards and 1 TD.
