Predicting the Top Fantasy Performer From Rams vs. Chiefs

When it comes to the top-scoring fantasy football performer in Sunday’s contest between the Kansas City Chiefs and St. Louis Rams, there is just no logical argument for anyone outside of Jamaal Charles. If you think it will be anyone other than him, then you’re playing a hunch.

The only thing stopping Charles from the fantasy domination he experienced last season is a lack of touches, and that seems to be an issue of the past. Andy Reid has apologized twice after he failed to get Charles the ball in losses. I highly doubt he wants to do it a third time. Furthermore, Charles is now fully healthy, and he’s the only Chiefs running back with good hands and blocking abilities.

The only way another skill-position player in Sunday’s game will put up more points than Charles is by hitting the end zone multiple times. Travis Kelce, Dwayne Bowe, Tre Mason and Brian Quick will be crap shoots this weekend.

There may be a very small case for the quarterbacks to outperform Charles. Austin Davis has had games with 21 and 26 fantasy points this season, but performing that well against the Chiefs will be tough. The Arrowhead crowd and Kansas City pass rush are going to drive Davis crazy. Moreover, the Chiefs secondary somehow has allowed the second fewest passing yards per game, despite facing Peyton Manning, Philip Rivers, Tom Brady and Colin Kaepernick.

It’s also tough to see a conservative quarterback like Alex Smith outscoring Charles, especially when he is one of Smith’s best receivers. The Rams allow 145 rushing yards per game. With one of the best running backs in the league, Kansas City will likely have a very run-heavy game plan.

Prediction: 120 rushing yards, 40 receiving yards, one TD
